IPL 2021: Auction to take place on February 18

The BCCI on 27th January 2021 announced that the auction for the IPL 2021 will be held at Chennai on February 18.

The auction will be held a day after the end of the 2nd test match between India and England at the same venue.

All the 8 franchise of the IPL have already submitted the list of their released and retained players to the BCCI.

Many big names in international cricket including Steve Smith, Jason Roy, and Glenn Maxwell have been released by their respective franchise before the auction.

Meanwhile, 3 times IPL champion CSK has shown faith in their long-time player Suresh Raina who is retained by the franchise.

However, legendry off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadhav, and Shane Watson are some prominent names who were released by this franchise.

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab are the only 2 teams that have released a large number of players. RCB has released 10 players before the IPL 2021 auction.

All the other 6 teams have retained their core players and will fill the gaps considering the planning for the future.

According to the news agency ANI, Indian players who don’t have a contract but want to take part in the auction are required to fill the player auction agreement and submit the same online by February 4 till 5 PM.

  • Royal Challengers Bangalore: Rs 35.7 crore
  • Rajasthan Royals: Rs 34.85 crore
  • Kings XI Punjab: Rs 53.2 crore
  • Mumbai Indians: Rs 15.35 crore
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad: Rs 10.75 crore
  • Kolkata Knight Riders: Rs 10.85 crore
  • Delhi Capitals: Rs 9 crore
