South African legendry fast bowler Dale Steyn has announced that he is not going to participate in IPL 2021. He made this announcement on Twitter where he said that he will be unavailable for his IPL franchise RCB this year.
Steyn did 2 tweets where he indicated that he is going to take some time off to pursue some things he is excited about and also made it clear that he is not retiring.

Just a short message to let everyone know that I’ve made myself unavailable for RCB at this years IPL, I’m also not planning on playing for another team, just taking some time off during that period.

Steyn started his career with RCB in the 1st season of IPL 2008 and he has played 95 matches till now and took 97 wickets during this time.
In the IPL 2020, Steyn only played in 3 matches and just took 1 wicket. His economy rate was also poor and he gave runs with an economy rate of 11.40.

In another tweet, Steyn said that he will be playing in other leagues nicely spaced out and again said that he is not retired.
I will be playing in other leagues, nicely spaced out to give myself a opportunity to do something’s I’ve been excited about as well as continue to play the game I love so much.

This indicates that he will be playing in the T20 world cup that was scheduled to be played in September 2020 but was postponed due to COVID-19 and will now be organised this year.
