IPL 2021 CSK vs PBKS (16th April 2021): CSK has registered their 1st win in the IPL 2021. They won in their 2nd match against KL Rahul led Punjab Kings by 6 wickets.

Chennai won the toss at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and decided to bowl 1st.

Chennai’s decision to bowl turned out very fruitful for them when their main fast bowler Deepak Chahar claimed 3 big wickets in the powerplay and completely destroyed their batting lineup.

Chahar took the wickets of Mayank Aggarwal, Chris Gayle, and Nicholas Pooran in the first 5 overs of Punjab’s innings.

This helped CSK in restricting Punjab at just 107 runs in 20 overs.

The only batsman from Punjab who was able to face CSK bowlers was Shahrukh Khan who made 47 runs in 36 balls.

CSK didn’t face any difficulty in chasing this target and successfully chased it in 15.4 overs.

Chennai’s 1st wicket fell in the form of Rituraj Gaikwad who scored just 5 runs. But after that, Faf Du Plessis and Moeen Ali together added 66 runs for the 2nd wicket.

Moeen Ali got out after scoring 46 runs but at that time, CSK were only 17 runs short of the win.

Shami took 2 wickets on 2 balls

Punjab’s leading pacer Mohammed Shami took 2 wickets on 2 consecutive deliveries that increased excitement in the match.

Shami took the wicket of Suresh Raina who came after the wicket of Moeen Ali. On the next delivery, he sent back Ambati Rayudu to the dugout.

This made the match exciting and fans expected Dhoni to be the next batsman. But Dhoni sent Sam Curran ahead to play with Faf Du Plessis.

England’s young blood Sam Curran entered the field when CSK were only 8 runs away from the win.

There was no need to play aggressively but Sam Curran hit a boundary on the 4th delivery of the 16th over and CSK won the match while 26 deliveries were still remaining.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni played his 200th match for CSK and the team made this match memorable for him by this powerful win.

After winning the toss, Chahar did exceptional bowling and gave some big blows to Punjab.

Ravindra Jadeja also contributed a lot with his fielding. He took a phenomenal catch and run out Punjab’s captain KL Rahul. This helped in restricting Punjab to such a low score.

Dhoni didn’t come out to bat in his 200th match for the CSK but CSK fans are happy that Chennai was able to win their 1st match in the IPL 2021.
